• Work to establish flood protection in the Upper Mississippi at the same level as those established for the Lower Mississippi. • Develop a Comprehensive Plan for flood protection in the Mississippi River Valley. • Support an active and aggressive Mississippi River Caucus. • Provide flood protection on the Missouri River. • Work with affiliate organizations to be the voice on regional river issues. • Promote a better understanding of the regional and national benefits of our Inland Waterway System, including economic development, agriculture, recreation and transportation. • Promote levee and drainage districts as full partners in balanced use of rivers for agriculture, recreation and environmental purposes. • Maintain strong partnerships with United States Army Corps of Engineers and other state and federal agencies to coordinate dredging activities and utilize spoil material for levee improvements, shoreline protection and other beneficial uses. |
